Ask your question here..: The consignee name in the Bill of lading is shown as “TO ORDER” can we issue the delivery order by collecting all the three originals from the consignee.
if not then what is the alternative solution to help the consignee.
Hi Munuswamy, a TO ORDER bill of lading can be released only to the person to whom it has been endorsed on the back of the bill of lading.. This endorsement needs to be made by the shipper on the bill of lading..
If the bill is TO ORDER and the bill is NOT endorsed, you need to get a written consent from the shipper (on their letterhead) that they have been paid all their dues by the “named” consignee, and that the cargo may be released to this “named” consignee.. You have to ensure that all originals released have been surrendered..
