Twitter, Tweet, Twitterati, Twitterer – many words to describe the social phenomenon that is.. The dictionary describes twitter as :
twitter [ˈtwɪtə] – vb
1. (intr) (esp of a bird) to utter a succession of chirping sounds
2. (intr) to talk or move rapidly and tremulously
3. (intr) to giggle her schoolmates twittered behind their desks
4. (tr) to utter in a chirping way
But for the purposes of business, twitter has chosen point 2.. Well that’s about Twitter.. But how can we use it to our advantage and how can it help you, specially with this site..??
If you have been reading my blog regularly, i have previously written two articles
about how this site will be tweeting (the act of sending out tweet (twitter) messages)..
Basically how it works is that this site has a twitter account @shippinginsa or http://twitter.com/shippinginsa.. If you have a twitter account, you can follow this site by clicking on the above link.. If you don’t have a twitter account and want to get one free, Join today.. It takes only a few seconds to register and you can start following.. You can follow this blog via twitter either on your pc, laptop or mobile.. The real easy bit is that since most of the people now have “smart phones”, you can configure twitter on your phone..
As and when i update an article on this blog and you are following me on twitter, you will get a notification on your smart phone (you need to download the twitter app or snaptu app on your smart phone) saying that an article has been published.. So wherever you are (other than when you are driving) all you need to do is just click on the tweet and hey presto, you can read that article any time, any place, comment on the article or share it with other by “re-tweeting” or on facebook or other social networking sites..
There are regular updates from DCT Pier 1 & 2 that is also updated via twitter from my site.. This is most helpful for people on the go, especially trucking, intermodal operators and logistics companies to view the status at the ports, stack opening, closing, congestion, port closures, wind bound issues etc etc..
So now you have no excuse not to be on twitter, so Join today and follow @shippinginsa.
(If you have not been reading my blog – its fine – its not too late to subscribe (for free) now, just click on the “sign me up” button on the right side bar under “email subscription” and you are done)
As Nike says – Just Do It..
